Sedation Dentistry in Kenmore
We understand that for many patients, visiting the dentist can bring about feelings of anxiety or fear. At Princeton Dental, we believe everyone deserves access to dental care in a calm and supportive environment — which is why we offer sedation dentistry options to help you feel at ease throughout your treatment.
What is Sedation Dentistry?
Sedation dentistry, also referred to as “sleep dentistry,” uses medication to help patients relax during dental procedures. We offer a range of sedation options, including:
- Oral sedatives (tablets)
- Intravenous (IV) sedation, administered by a qualified anaesthetist
What to Expect
If IV sedation is recommended, a detailed treatment plan and cost estimate will be provided ahead of time. On the day of your visit:
- You’ll be sedated comfortably in the dental chair by the anaesthetist and their team
- Your dentist, either Dr Nina, Dr Will or Dr Luke will perform your dental treatment as they normally would in the dental chair.
- All outlined treatment will be completed while you remain relaxed
- You’ll be moved to a recovery area post-treatment
- A trusted friend or family member will need to accompany you home
Is Sedation Right for You?
Sedation may be ideal if you:
- Experience dental anxiety or phobia
- Have a strong gag reflex or difficulty sitting still
- Require complex or multiple procedures in one visit
IV sedation is not generally used for routine check-ups or cleans, but it can be life-changing for patients who have delayed treatment due to fear.
