Your Back-to-School Dental Checklist

Getting ready for the new school term involves more than just purchasing new uniforms and school supplies. Here are some ways to help keep your child’s oral health on track:

• Book a Pre-Term Dental Check-Up: Regular check-ups let us monitor early development and spot any minor concerns early, before they turn into bigger (and often costlier) issues.

• Check Their Toothbrush: A toothbrush should be replaced every 3-4 months, especially if bristles become frayed. Let your child pick a new one with their favourite colour or character to make brushing fun.

• Refresh Oral Hygiene Habits: Busy mornings and tired evenings can lead to skipped routines—try brushing charts or phone reminders. (We know it’s not always easy, especially when lunchboxes go missing and shoes mysteriously vanish before 8 am).

• Pack Smile-Friendly Lunches:  Foods like cheese, yoghurt, veggie sticks, wholegrain crackers and fresh fruit are great tooth-friendly choices. Try to limit sticky snacks, juice boxes, and sugary bars when you can.
