Sleep Apnoea – Night Guards/Splints in Kenmore

man getting fitted with mouthguardAt Princeton Dental, we understand the challenges that come with sleep apnoea. Many patients experience grinding, clenching, and difficulty breathing during their sleep, which can lead to various issues. However, one particular concern for dental health is the unintentional damage caused to your teeth while you slumber.

Did you know that not many things can break a tooth, except for something of equal strength like another tooth? That’s where splints, also known as night guards, come in. Similar to sports mouthguards, these custom-made devices offer protection for your teeth while you sleep, preventing further damage.

What to Expect

The process of getting a splint at Princeton Dental is simple and hassle-free. When you visit us for a consultation, our highly skilled team will assess your needs and determine if a splint is necessary. We then take a mould of your teeth, and in approximately one week, you return to have your personalised splint fitted. Our splints are designed to be comfortable, allowing you to wear them throughout the night with no discomfort.

It’s important to note that splints aren’t just beneficial for sleep apnoea patients. They are also recommended for individuals undergoing veneer treatment. By protecting your teeth from grinding and clenching, splints ensure the longevity of your newly enhanced smile.

For patients with more severe sleep apnoea issues, we may need to refer you to an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) doctor or arrange a sleep apnoea exam. Your overall wellbeing is our priority, and we want to ensure you receive the care and treatment to address any underlying conditions.
