Root Canal Treatment in Kenmore

illustration of a tooth and rootsRoot canal treatment is needed when decay or bacteria have moved deep into the nerve of the tooth, which is located inside the tooth. This can be caused when a tooth is cracked or when existing fillings fail, allowing bacteria to travel inside the tooth. The nerve becomes infected and inflamed, causing a severe toothache and often facial swelling as well.

At Princeton Dental, we have been providing root canal treatments for over 25 years and have the experience and expertise to provide the care you need in a comfortable, effective manner.

What to Expect

Many people believe that root canal therapy is a very painful procedure. However, it’s the underlying condition—the infection in the nerve—that causes the pain. The procedure itself is done after we have completely numbed the tooth, so it’s completely painless.

Once your tooth is numb, we will begin. We clean out the bacteria and decay, disinfect and apply medication in the centre of the tooth, then seal the tooth where the root used to be. Then we’ll put a typical filling where the crack or leaking filling was located. If the affected tooth is a molar, you will need a crown after the root canal to protect the tooth because removing the root leaves the tooth in a weakened state.

Convenient Payment Options

Princeton Dental is proud to offer convenient payment options to allow patients to get the treatment they need, when they need it.

Ensuring Your Comfort

If your toothache is so severe that we can’t get it completely numb, we will prescribe antibiotics to reduce the inflammation and infection, which will also lessen the pain. We’ll bring you back in a few days for the root canal, and at this point, we should be able to get the tooth completely numb.

We do not do dental procedures that you can feel—we make sure that you are comfortable and don’t feel any pain during your root canal or other dental services.
